Poetry Taste #16: "Embracing 30"

30th birthday cupcake | © Africa Studio - Adobe Stock

Below is a nonet poem "poetry taste" I have recently written about how I was feeling one year ago before I turned 30 last December.

At first I was not looking forward
To turning thirty - but soon I
Realized it is not so bad.
As thirty drew closer, I looked to embrace
it. A chapter
To newly
Start for
me.

I also wrote an acrostic poem version of this poem subject. The acrostic poem is published on Hubpages. Please visit the Hubpages "My Hubs" section below in this blog for the link to read the acrostic poem titled "Thirty."

Poetry Taste #15: "Reclined Twist Practice"

The mountain of stress
Had formed intricate knots in my back.
I know exactly what needs to be done
To make me relaxed - it is not a stranger to me.

Moments later I am lying on my mat,
Arms outstretched to the letter T;
Legs bent in and folded to my torso -
Ready to twist about in a reclined twist.

Twisting and turning one way,
Then the other.
Wringing out built up of stress,
Stretching and untwisting the intricate knots.

Bending but not braking;
Loving to love myself.
I breathe in and breathe out,
Keeping rhythm with my stretching self.

Finally, I am relaxed and stress-free;
And one of my favorites in yoga
Has melted away the mountain successfully -
The reclined twist pose.

Poetry Tastes #9 - 11: More Poetry That Previously Were Only Published as Notes on Facebook

Below are more of my older "poetry tastes" that were previously only published as notes on my Author Facebook page. I have decided to relocate them here in my blog.

Poetry Taste #9: "A Spicy Salsa"

(poem written for a poetry prompt I completed on twitter in 2011)

They entered into a dreamscape,
Tumbling together in the dark,
Blushing between candy kisses,
Speechless,
A spicy salsa.

Poetry Taste #10: "Whispering Secrets"

Secrets in the wind
Whisper though pine leaves
Lit with the spring sun.

Poetry Taste #11: "Dreamcatcher"

Eyelids flutter,
Voices mutter.
Angelic dreams pass through only;
No more am I lonely.

Poetry Tastes #4 - 7: Poetry That Previously Were Only Published as Notes on Facebook

Below are some of my older "poetry tastes" that were previously only published as notes on my Author Facebook page. I have decided to relocate them here in my blog.

Poetry Taste #4: "Comforting The Moon"

The moon lies bright
In a cloudless sky
Alone with no starlight
Above my
Head. The cool air dancing
On my skin.
Overcome with curious eyes gazing,
I'm giving in.
Pointing a finger,
Keeping open one eye,
I trace stars
In the dark sky
To comfort the moon,
To keep it from breaking into a teardrop tune.

Poetry Taste #5: "Angels' Regret"

The moonless sky mirrors
Against the still lake,
Sends glittering black
Rays into oblivion.

A single rose on the edge, left
Regret in the minds
Of the Angels full of light
In the distance.

The abandoned meadow, burning,
smoldering and melting to nothing.

Poetry Taste #6: "Difficult to Anger"

Try to push me to the edge,
Try again and again.
My limit is as high as a mountain's ledge;
I can easily refrain.

Poetry Taste #7: "Hold Me"

Wrap your arms around
me; hold me dear, close, tight, in
the late wintry night.

Poetry Taste #13: "The Great Egret"

A Great Egret gulps
Its fishy lunch in the hot
Florida summer.

Booktube

Hi all!

I had taken a little hiatus from writing and posting, but I am back at it again! :)

This time I am adding filming booktube Youtube videos to compliment my articles I publish on Hubpages and any extra posts I publish on my blog here. The booktube videos will cover book reviews and any book-related topics I wish to cover. Poems and little blurbs about my adventures, travels, and Hubpages articles will be featured here as always, along with blurbs about the booktube videos I film, so there'll be a lot more posts to look forward to.

My first booktube video is one of me doing the Booktube Newbie Tag questions as a way for me to officially introduce myself to the booktube Youtube community. Check it out from my Youtube channel or here:
